Funny Shape Biscuits – Baking For Toddlers

These biscuits contain no sugar and are ideal for babies who are teething.

50g/ 2 oz whole meal flour

100g/ 4 oz plain white flour

75g/ 3 oz semolina

1/4 teaspoon each ground ginger

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

75g/ 3 oz butter

1 medium ripe banana

2 tablespoons maple syrup

1 egg, lightly beaten

Method:

Put the flours, semolina, ginger and cinnamon into a mixing bowl and rub in the butter. Mash the banana well with the maple syrup and stir into the mixture to make a smooth pliable dough.

Roll out on lightly floured surface and cut into shapes with biscuit cutters. Brush with the beaten egg and bake on lightly greased baking trays in an oven preheated to 200 oC (400 oF) gas mark 6 for 20 minutes until golden and firm. Cool on a wire rack.
