My husband started a blog to show all the progress of the jacket and the badges we are collecting and also that him and a friend are identifying the badges as they go. Please go and take a look at Making my ace costume at http://acecostume.blogspot.co.uk/
I decided to embroider the Ace patch on the back of the jacket as I just had a temporary felted patch that my husband put on it.
It’s a little dark but here are the pics when I first started the patch, I used hessian with an embroidery hoop and an embroidery needle and then just started sewing with the red and white embroidery thread. I purchased these pieces from Beales department store.
Then the finished A.
I then finally attached it to the jacket.
For the C and E I kept the yellow felt as from the original I thought that the yellow wasn’t embroidered but I did embroider the edges of the C and E.
I had some shiny gold embroidery thread and from the original picture you can see that there is an edge that is a gold colour. I embroidered the edges of the C and E.
I hope you like it as it took many hours to complete and I jabbed myself with the needle a few times.
I also recently visited the Doctor Who Experience in Cardiff and in the gift shop they have patches and I purchased one and I have attached it to the jacket.
Since the last update on the ‘making my ace costume’ blog we have also added the whistle and the Ace Roofing Co patch.
Let me know if you like to cosplay too………
