This is our ugly bread bin we bought a couple of years ago, I don’t know what possessed me to buy it as I’ve always hated it I think I just rushed out to buy the first cheap thing I could find as we needed to store our bread in something.
It had to change or it had to go basically, it also developed a bit of rust on the bottom.
My husband took the handle off before painting, sanded it down with some sand paper to get rid of most of the rust. Then we bought some spray paint from the local Wilkinson shop – a cream colour and a little pot of black paint because I wanted to hand paint the word bread onto it.
This is it after one or two coats of spray paint.
And then fully painted.
The word bread that I painted onto it, with the handle re-attached.
And now back in its place in the kitchen.
I know the word isn’t in the centre but that’s what I think the beauty of crafting is, it’s not perfect and it is something unique that you have created.
And now there’s no sign of the rust so I’m happy with that.
I hope you like it.
